City Of Dreams is the sweetest horse you’ll ever meet! You will always find her with her head over the stall, ears pricked, beckoning you over to pet and love on her. She is attentive and curious about her surroundings and looks to make connections with people. She is sensible and actively learning under saddle, picking up both leads and stepping over poles with no problems, and had a great time free jumping as well! She hacks out alone or with friends around the farm, and also works quietly in the arena. She has no vices and is best suited for flatwork disciplines with an upper-intermediate rider.

City stands perfectly still in cross ties and is very easy to handle around the barn, she thoroughly enjoys being groomed and loves her cookies! She does require front shoes, but holds them well and is easy for the farrier. She is currently turned out with mares and has been in a mixed group. She prefers long turnout hours to play with friends, but she is the first to greet you at the gate with bright eyes and pricked ears. City Of Dreams has so much untapped potential waiting to be unlocked with her new person, could that be you?

City of Dreams is Retrained & Remarkable Challenge eligible. As such she will receive a shipping credit of up to $500, and an invitation to compete in Challenge-specific classes at the 2019 New Vocations Charity Horse Show Series. R&R adopters who choose to participate in the competition will be eligible to compete for $5,000 in cash and prizes; they will also receive a FREE stall at the Charity Horse Show and FREE entry into Challenge classes.

New Vocations’ adoption fees are intentionally set lower than the cost of buying most Thoroughbreds or Standardbreds through a private seller. In today’s market, it’s not unusual for horses coming right off the track to be listed for sale at a price between $2,000 and $5,000. At New Vocations, a fee is set for each horse that will ultimately help the horse find a home quickly. The program’s facilities are always at full capacity, which means the program cannot take in an additional horse until one is adopted. Adopters should be encouraged to know that by adopting a horse through New Vocations, they are actually helping two horses transition to careers outside of racing.

Additionally, adopters get great value for their money: The majority of the horses have been in the program for a minimum of 60 days. During that time, horses are rehabilitated (if needed), socialized with other horses, fully evaluated and worked with by a professional trainer. New Vocations fully discloses the history of each horse and provides all available medical records, many of which include X-ray and ultrasounds.

While adoption fees are low, it should be noted that the costs associated with the ongoing care and additional training for each horse post-adoption can be high. New Vocations hopes that by helping an adopter save money upfront that he or she will have more funds available to cover the ongoing costs of properly caring for a horse.
