Josie’s Prospect – 2010 16.2 OTTB mare. Stunning good looks – she is balanced with broad, muscular shoulders and an equally substantial hip on top of nice solid feet. Josie is seeking a friend, rider, and the absolute right home to admire her intelligence and willingness.
The good: Never does anything wrong undersaddle, or in hand, ever. Today, tomorrow or next Christmas she is the same level headed girl. She’s super happy to take on any challenge and thrives on attention. Stands like a pro for the vet, farrier, dogs underfoot or children to groom. Perfect with geldings or mares, donkeys, chickens or the pig. Never spooks. Trailers like a dream and is pretty tidy in her stall. No vices except an addiction to sugar cubes, carrorts or apples.
The bad: Josie has early stages hock arthritis. Have xrays from last fall available. We injected her with minimal results and found she’s easier to maintain on daily supplement of Equinety ($1/day) She’s a TB so she does not appreciate bugs but then who does? Fly sheets suit her just fine and she will happily let you fly spray her as needed. She eats more than the QH next to her to maintain her figure and she does not do well on 24 hr turnout (hence the bugs issue). Happily goes out for 12 but that’s her limit. She will go anywhere you point her with a buddy on the trail but is not herd bound or barn sour. I have not taken her out alone.
Good match would be someone who dotes on ponies- she adores being groomed, leisurely trail rides or light arena work, broodmare or surrogate (although has not been bred) Has been ridden bareback or saddled. Advanced beginner would do fine with her. Current on vaccinations and dental. Will have current coggins pulled if needed.
