Due to my health reasons, I am sadly looking for a new home for Mellis.  He is a 15.3hh 10 year old thoroughbred gelding and is capable of any discipline. He has so much to give and would make someone a great partner. He’s a very kind horse with no stable vices. He can be ridden alone or in company and has been turned out with mares and geldings with no problems. He doesn’t look for any confrontation. He’s good for the farrier and vet. He loves to spray you with the hose when he’s having a bath. He doesn’t even have to be tied up, he will stand there and let you soap and rinse, loving every minute! I sent him away for 30 days last summer as I hadn’t ridden him for 2 years due to my car accident. He was a true gentleman and acted like he hadn’t had any time off at all. He will come with all his blankets and if needed, his tack.  He really needs a special home where he will be loved and worked.
Mellis was retired from racing in 2012 due to a LF condylar fracture – it was repaired with a single screw and should not present any problems for a future riding career – including jumping careers.

Previous Profile Description: Mellis! He is a happy go lucky guy who is just as cute as a button. He is always friendly and thinks grooming time a great time to play. He will often try to steal the brush and chew on the wooden back. He also love to try to drink the water during bath time. In the field, he is all about the business of eating. Meliis is easygoing and gets along with everyone but does not have much interest in wrestling like some of the other boys. He does not have any stable vices.

Mellis was retired to the farm where he was bred and the farm owner had planned on using him for foxhunting. A couple years passed and he never got around to doing much with him so he felt it was better that Mellis find a home where he can do more than hang out in a field. We are so glad he sent him to us as Mellis has so much to offer! He has a wonderful mind on top of cute movement. We already took him off the property to be a demo horse at a 4H horse judging competition. He was an absolute star! At home, he has been started over crossrails which you can see in the video that he picked up very quickly. The swing of his movement and his overall conformation made us think of him as a hunter prospect, though he is suitable for all disciplines. One of the best parts to Mellis is his temperament which makes him suitable for low intermediate riders and up. He would be a great mount for a young teen rider of that level or a reliable mount for an adult amateur.
