Description

Monolithic, aka “Stevie” is a kind 4 year old that is searching for someone to be a best friend! Stevie has limited vision in both eyes from an accident when he was younger! He looks to you for guidance, LOVES having friends, and walks calmly like a little gentleman on the lead! Stevie walks over poles, walks between small places, and is learning to stand as mounted. He will need someone with a kind, patient hand as his vision can be an issue. He can be a 4 year old from time to time so he will need a confident, advanced rider until he feels the trust he is longing for. Stevie did race 4 times and even placed first and second out of those races with the limited vision! He is well put together and sound! Someone who wants a TRUE bond and time doesn’t matter, will be his perfect match! Suited for most disciplines based on his body as he is rideable if someone wants to put the time and training into him! Ever heard of Endo the blind horse???!! Stevie could be the next Endo!!!!! Suited for a companion horse as well! Does best with a buddy, riding outside, and a quiet home!

Monolithic is Retrained & Remarkable Challenge eligible. As such he will receive a shipping credit of up to $500, and an invitation to compete in Challenge-specific classes at the 2019 New Vocations Charity Horse Show Series. R&R adopters who choose to participate in the competition will be eligible to compete for $5,000 in cash and prizes; they will also receive a FREE stall at the Charity Horse Show and FREE entry into Challenge classes.

ADOPTION FEE POLICY

New Vocations’ adoption fees are intentionally set lower than the cost of buying most Thoroughbreds or Standardbreds through a private seller. In today’s market, it’s not unusual for horses coming right off the track to be listed for sale at a price between $2,000 and $5,000. At New Vocations, a fee is set for each horse that will ultimately help the horse find a home quickly. The program’s facilities are always at full capacity, which means the program cannot take in an additional horse until one is adopted. Adopters should be encouraged to know that by adopting a horse through New Vocations, they are actually helping two horses transition to careers outside of racing.

Additionally, adopters get great value for their money: The majority of the horses have been in the program for a minimum of 60 days. During that time, horses are rehabilitated (if needed), socialized with other horses, fully evaluated and worked with by a professional trainer. New Vocations fully discloses the history of each horse and provides all available medical records, many of which include X-ray and ultrasounds.

While adoption fees are low, it should be noted that the costs associated with the ongoing care and additional training for each horse post-adoption can be high. New Vocations hopes that by helping an adopter save money upfront that he or she will have more funds available to cover the ongoing costs of properly caring for a horse.
