Roman Road is a strapping young boy! Roman is only 4 years old and already stands at 16.2hh with an incredible amount of bone. He is by Street Cry (IRE) out of the mare named Golden Velvet who was a Grade 3 Stakes winner during her racing career. He has 3 siblings, all of whom have earned over $100k and 2 of them are Graded Stakes competitors. His 2014 brother Lucullan last ran in a G3 in May. There is something we usually notice with horses who come from incredible families, it is that they have an air of class. It also doesn’t hurt that he came from a top class racing operation so he has had the best handling, care, nutrition, basically the best start to life you could ask for!

Roman got kicked as a baby, on the left side of his face and has some vision loss in that eye as a result. He had dental surgery earlier this year to correct some teeth that were coming in abnormally too. Don’t try to tell him that there’s anything abnormal about him though! Roman’s personality is undoubtedly special though– it’s not every day that you get such a lovely, kind horse with talent to boot! He is super classy, with a nice look and way of going. He wants to be friends with everyone in the field and every person he meets! He always wants to be touching you with his nose! It is truly precious how in your pocket he is. Roman does not have any stall vices either.

He went through race training, but was not deemed a good prospect for racing, so he now has the opportunity to find a career in which he can excel! Under saddle, Roman is a lovely youngster to work with. He has a great understanding of his basics and is a quick learner, with a great work ethic. He is a very straight-forward ride with nice, uphill movement and a sporty feel. He likes to tackle new challenges head-on (even with his partial vision loss!). He will be best suited for an intermediate rider who is working with a trainer or an advanced rider. He was retired without any known injuries and will be suitable for all disciplines!
