Description

Stonebridge Lyric is a 17 hand, beautiful pacing gelding, by the premier sire Rocknroll Hanover.  This regal gelding raced 232 times and earned $221,998 and had 52 wins! Stonebridge Lyric had a tremendous career and at 12 years old it was time to retire him. Lyric raced on many tracks in the United States and Canada so has seen many things throughout his life and travels. All though he is a big horse, he has a super fun personality and loves to have his head out greeting everyone who walks in the barn. He loves attention from anyone who will give it to him.  Lyric probably had had a rider on his back because he acted like it was nothing new. He is doing really well under saddle and prefers to trot. With more training, he can learn to give to the bit and begin to get a headset. Lyric had impeccable driving manners and would be a great horse to pleasure drive. He is very brave and willing to go where you ask him to go. With his proud headset he would be a beautiful mounted patrol horse, trail, foxhunter and or show horse. With his size and presence, Stonebridge Lyric will be a great horse for most riders and he will look good doing it!

Stonebridge Lyric is 2020 Retrained & Remarkable Challenge eligible. As such he will be invited to vie for $5,000 in cash and prizes at a 2020 New Vocations Charity Horse Show, where he will receive a free stall and free entry into R&R Challenge classes (which include English and western pleasure, hunter hack, trail, driving and an in-hand classes).

ADOPTION FEE POLICY

New Vocations’ adoption fees are intentionally set lower than the cost of buying most Thoroughbreds or Standardbreds through a private seller. In today’s market, it’s not unusual for horses coming right off the track to be listed for sale at a price between $2,000 and $5,000. At New Vocations, a fee is set for each horse that will ultimately help the horse find a home quickly. The program’s facilities are always at full capacity, which means the program cannot take in an additional horse until one is adopted. Adopters should be encouraged to know that by adopting a horse through New Vocations, they are actually helping two horses transition to careers outside of racing.

Additionally, adopters get great value for their money: The majority of the horses have been in the program for a minimum of 60 days. During that time, horses are rehabilitated (if needed), socialized with other horses, fully evaluated and worked with by a professional trainer. New Vocations fully discloses the history of each horse and provides all available medical records, many of which include X-ray and ultrasounds.

While adoption fees are low, it should be noted that the costs associated with the ongoing care and additional training for each horse post-adoption can be high. New Vocations hopes that by helping an adopter save money upfront that he or she will have more funds available to cover the ongoing costs of properly caring for a horse.
