8) Leave a Legacy Through Planned Giving

Corporate Giving

From sponsorships to in-kind donations and philanthropic gifts, there are many ways for corporations to support New Vocations’ mission.

  • Make a Gift: Organizations can have an immediate impact.
  • Sponsorship: Team up on a co-branding opportunity at a New Vocations event.
  • In-Kind Donation: Offer products and services to help New Vocations reduce expenses and maximize funds.
  • Matching Gifts: Offer a matching gift program to employees to encourage philanthropy.

Foundation Giving

Public and private foundation support is critical to New Vocations’ mission: It helps provide rehabilitative care for the large number of injured horses arriving each month and also assists with the board, training, vet/ chiropractor/farrier care and general program expenses. This vital support is also instrumental in furthering New Vocations’ outreach efforts to the public and equestrian communities. Letters of inquiry, funding proposals and grant applications can be submitted to meet foundation requirements.

Stocks or Securities

Gifting stock or securities to New Vocations is an easy and efficient way to support the program’s mission. Donor benefits include: • The market value of the stock and securities is tax-deductible. • Capital gains tax is avoided on the appreciation of the asset.

Planned Giving/Bequests

Make a lasting gift and fulfill financial goals by including New Vocations in your estate plans.

Gifts Through an Estate

  • Wills and Living Trusts: Add New Vocations to a will or living trust, known as a charitable bequest, for a specific amount or for a percentage of an estate that entitles the estate to an unlimited federal estate tax charitable deduction.
  • Beneficiary Designations: Name New Vocations as a beneficiary to receive assets such as retirement plans and life insurance policies after your lifetime. A beneficiary gift to New Vocations is exempt from taxes.
  • Account Designations: Designate New Vocations as a beneficiary of bank accounts, certificates of deposit or brokerage accounts.

Gifts that Provide Income

  • Charitable Gift Annuities: A charitable gift annuity (CGA) is a gift to New Vocations that provides the donor with fixed income payments for life. A CGA also provides a variety of tax benefits, including a federal income tax charitable deduction.

IRA Gifts

After the age of 70½, mandatory IRA distributions can be designated tax-free to New Vocations. The donor pays no tax and New Vocations receives the entire gift.

New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program

New Vocations is proud to be the oldest and largest racehorse adoption program in the country, serving more than 600 retired racehorses a year.

Since our inception in 1992, we've carried out our mission to rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome retired racehorses and placed more than 9,000 in adoptive homes.  With nine facilities in Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania, we continue to work with racing owners and trainers in need of aftercare options and with our adopters to find perfect homes for these most-deserving equine athletes.
