Since we held New Vocations' first All-Thoroughbred Charity Horse Show in 2001, we've had two goals. The first is to raise much-needed funds to support New Vocations mission of rehabbing, retraining and rehoming retired racehorses. The second is to put on a well-run event where exhibitors with Thoroughbreds could compete against each other and bond over their passion for the breed. Over the past 20 years, the show—which began in the infield of Turfway Park—has moved from Kentucky to Ohio and back to Kentucky again. The show has grown larger than we ever possibly expected, which means it requires significant resources to run.

Unfortunately, with the show's growth, it's been nearly impossible to increase the amount of funds raised to support our mission. Following last year’s ebbs and flows due to COVID, we had to take a hard look at how we could best achieve our goals—raise funds to support our ex-racehorses—while still putting on a successful event for competitors and supporters alike. Ultimately, we determined that moving the show to Aiken was the best economical choice this year. We did not take this decision lightly but feel that it's an essential move at the moment. In the future, it’s entirely possible that we’ll return to the bluegrass or even visit a different venue in another location. This September, though, we’re excited to welcome returning and new competitors to Aiken, a fun and horse-centric town with deep roots in the Thoroughbred industry. We're thrilled that our venue will even allow us to include new offerings, including an exhibitor’s party with live music, food and more.

We fully understand that this move could prohibit some exhibitors from attending. However, we also know that, this year, the move is essential in allowing us to continue our horse show tradition. We appreciate your understanding during these challenging times and hope to see you at the in gate!
