From Super Market's Owner: I am looking to rehome my 2004 15.3 h gelding to a light trail or companion home. I purchased him with the intention of using him as a low-level dressage horse, but it has been not easy to keep him comfortable for this type of work. He has mild to moderate kissing spine in his lower lumbar region. Rehab and focusing on topline strength has helped, but not enough to feel comfortable in a dressage saddle. I think he would be fine in a western saddle that distributes weight evenly.
He has been great under saddle and tries hard to please. He is personable, loves attention and really connects with his person. He seems to enjoy work, even when he isn’t fully comfortable. He has been a pleasure to work with and care for. He can be quirky on the ground sometimes, but he is pretty good with consistent handling. I really hate to rehome him, but I want him to have a loving home where he can really thrive. He currently lives out 24/7 and has done well. To maintain riding soundness, he is on Equioxx and has front shoes. However, He doesn’t need either if he is not being ridden. I am happy to provide more details and video to interested parties.
