Description

I adopted "Sailor" in 2014 and showed him up until September 2017. The following spring I found out I was pregnant with our third child and I rode him up until June of 2018 before taking 'maternity leave' from riding. In October (the same week my son was born!) he came in from the pasture with an injury. We diagnosed him with a tear in the lateral branch of his suspensory on his right fore. We rehabbed him and he was released from stall rest the following April and turned back out to pasture in July. He has been sound since December 2018. I hopped on him in August 2019 and he was the same horse, no bucks or silly business.

In order to do what was best for him I took him to a local boarding facility in January 2020, where he currently resides. He stalls fine, is fine with other horses and is as quiet as a mouse there.

When I first adopted him, he had chiropractic adjustments quite often. Nowadays he hardly needs them, but he does move better when he is on a regular schedule. His right hind leg is harder for him to use than the left hind. He is not lame but he will avoid "using it" (during canter departs, etc).

He is super sweet and willing to please. Is currently being used as a lesson horse. Has traveled as an IEA mount and was loved by all the kids! I took him on a trail ride (4 hours long) as a 3-year-old and just held the buckle. He was perfect!

He is not spooky, does not kick, bolt, rear, bite etc. Give him a year off or more and you still have the same horse, the only difference is his fitness level. If I had more space I would keep him. I truly feel that someone would love to have a big, beautiful, sweet Steady Eddie in their life that they can ride around on in the arena, pasture, bareback and on the trail.

He is 16.2 and wide as a tank. He could do dressage again (he takes spur and crop to find implusion), could do crosspoles or W/T/C huntseat.
