Description
Adorable young pacing-bred gelding with a bright future!
Sir Issac Newton, known around the barn as "Fishy" is a handsome son of the notable sire Captaintreacherous. Why is his name Fishy? Well, when he was rehabbing his soft tissue injury he did a lot of swimming and still LOVES the water, pools, puddles or water troughs, you can find him splashing there! Fishy had plenty of time off after his last race to rehab and he is ready to go to work in his new home!
- Leading and Ground Manners- Level 1 Fishy is a gentleman on the ground and is easily led in a regular halter and cotton lead rope.
- Grooming and Tacking- Level 1 Fishy stands well in the crossties for grooming and behaves wonderfully for the farrier.
- Horse Care- Level 1 Fishy maintains well on our regular rations. He is currently barefoot, but may need front shoes if working on hard or rocky conditions.
- General Demeanor- Level 1 Fishy is happily turned out in a large group of geldings. He's not one to rock the boat and gets along well with others. He has no stable vices.
- Riding- Level 1 Fishy is a straightforward ride, he may occasionally stop to take a peek at "scary" things in the arena, but will march along at his riders request. Under saddle he will both trot and pace as demonstrated in the video, and his adopter should have no trouble developing the gait of their choosing!
- Physical Capability- Level 2 Fishy is suitable for a moderate impact second career.
New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program
New Vocations is proud to be the oldest and largest racehorse adoption program in the country, serving more than 600 retired racehorses a year.
Since our inception in 1992, we've carried out our mission to rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome retired racehorses and placed more than 9,000 in adoptive homes. With nine facilities in Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania, we continue to work with racing owners and trainers in need of aftercare options and with our adopters to find perfect homes for these most-deserving equine athletes.
