Confident Trail Horse Ready for Adventure!

Heart Felt is a big, sturdy son of the notable sire Well Said. Originally coming through our program in 2019, Heart Felt has since had a lot of experience trail riding, camping and even fox hunting. His extenisve time under saddle will make him a wonderful partner for someone dreaming of long treks on the trail!

• Leading and Ground Manners- Level 1 Heart Felt is a gentleman on the ground and is led easily in a regular halter and cotton lead rope.
• Grooming and Tacking- Level 1 Heart Felt stands patiently in the cross ties for grooming and saddling. He occasionally gets a little ticklish between his hind legs when we are crossing his blanket straps.
• Horse Care- Level 1 Heart Felt is currently wearing front shoes, but could also go barefoot. He maintains well on our regular rations.
• Riding- Level 1 Although he will sometimes give a playful head toss at the beginning of a ride, Heart Felt is an experienced guy under saddle.  His original adopter took him on extensive trail rides including camping, worked with clicker training and spent many hours in the saddle.  Heart Felt has also had experience Fox Hunting.  He does prefer to have his "bubble" around him when ridden, and didn't much care for the tight and bustling working space on the hunt field.  When he had his room as a whip horse, he was much more content. In the confines of the indoor he will swap from a trot to a pace, as seen in the video, but will settle into the prefered gait of the rider with time.
• General Demeanor- Level 2 Heart Felt is a big guy who thinks very highly of himself.  In turnout he tends to be at the top of the pecking order, but has settled well into turnout here, both in small groups of 2-3 and the larger herd of 10. He may not be a suitable pasture mate for older or especially timid horses.  He is protective of his stall space, especially at feeding time. Absolutely no mixed turnout for this guy!
• Physical Capability- Level 2 While he loves the great outdoors, and his heart is on the trails and hunter paces, Heart Felt retired with no notable injuries and is suitable for most careers!
