Description
This young mare is so quiet that she has been ridden on trails, bareback.
She loves to cuddle!!!
Quiet and kind mare that everyone is looking for!!
Robin’s Touch is a refined, well-built young Standardbred mare who combines eye-catching movement with an exceptional mind. Though smaller in stature, she carries herself with presence and balance, making her a standout both in-hand and under saddle.
As a young horse, Robin’s Touch is eager to learn and thrives with thoughtful, consistent guidance. She is naturally curious and people-oriented, showing a genuine desire to connect and please. With a solid foundation and a willing attitude, she has the potential to excel in a variety of directions with the right partner to continue her development.
She has already demonstrated a level-headed and inquisitive mindset, even in new or unexpected situations— simply watching a deer run out of the woods in front of her and watching before moving forward on the trail ride! Her intelligence and composure make her an enjoyable and rewarding prospect for someone who values a trainable, thinking horse.
Robin’s Touch is well-regarded in the barn for her excellent manners and kind disposition. She is easy to handle and brings a quiet, positive presence wherever she goes. Her expressive eyes and sweet nature have made her well loved by all who handle her. Fun fact, we also placed her "auntie" Touch of Kathryn through our broodmare program!
- Leading and Ground Manners - Level 1- Robin leads with a simple halter and lead.
- Grooming and Tacking- Level 1- Robin is easy to handle with her grooming and feet. Being young, she can get impatient if she gets bored, and kindly asks that she be prioritized. She loves attention!!
- Horse Care - Level 1 - Robin is barefoot and on grass mix hay and ration balancer. She naturally holds her weight very well.
- Riding - Level 1 Robin has taken to riding in a basic snaffle and has been wonderful under saddle at the walk and had been working to be more consistent in building her trot under saddle. She has a very nice ground covering trot! She is happy in both a snaffle and a hackamore.
- General Demeanor - Level 1 - Robin is a generally chill youngster that is ready to be exposed to new things with a patient and understanding trainer. She is eager to please!
- Physical Capability - Level 3 Robin has nothing physically holding her back from any career. She isn't terribly interested in speed or jumping careers at this time, but there is nothing holding her back physically for those to be considered as she matures and gains her being ridden muscles. She did race four times and is well broke to drive. She is a very well bred mare and her class shows! She retired with no injuries.

ABOUT OUR ADOPTION FEES
New Vocations intentionally sets our horses’ adoption fees lower than the average cost of buying a Thoroughbred or Standardbred from a private seller (in today’s market, horses coming right off the track are often listed at $5,000 to $10,000!).
Our fees range from $0 (waived) to $3,500.
- Fees typically correspond with a horse’s Anticipated Physical Capability. So, horses that are found to be best suited for non-riding careers (our Pasture Potatoes) have waived fees, while the fees for horses assessed to be suitable for high-impact careers will be up to $3,500.
While our adoption fees are low, it’s important to remember that costs associated with ongoing care and additional training for a horse can be high. We hope that by helping adopters save money upfront, you’ll have more funds available to cover the costs of properly caring for and training a retired racehorse.
When you adopt a horse through New Vocations, you’re helping two horses; your new family member and the one who takes their place in our program. Our facilities are nearly always at max capacity, which means we can’t take in a new horse until one is adopted. Keeping our adoption fees low helps us find appropriate homes for horses quickly, enabling us to help even more horses transition off the track as stalls open up in our barns!
Another perk of adopting from us: we do all we can to give you the most value for your adoption fee. Most adoptable horses have been in the program for a minimum of 60 days, during which they've rehabilitated (if needed), socialized with other horses, been evaluated by trainers and veterinarians, and have been in regular training with a professional. On average, the monetary value of these services exceeds $5,000. Any medical records (often including X-rays and ultrasounds) and pertinent history we have on each horse are also available to interested and approved adopters.

New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program
New Vocations is proud to be the oldest and largest racehorse adoption program in the country, serving more than 600 retired racehorses a year.
Since our inception in 1992, we've carried out our mission to rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome retired racehorses and placed more than 9,000 in adoptive homes. With nine facilities in Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania, we continue to work with racing owners and trainers in need of aftercare options and with our adopters to find perfect homes for these most-deserving equine athletes.
