Description
From Alphonse's owner:
"Alphonse is a classic bay Thoroughbred whose beauty really comes to life with movement. Alphonse has incredibly lively gaits where the energy behind each gait makes him look almost weightless! Alphonse is a very athletic horse and it is an absolute pleasure to watch him frolic in the pasture. He is very nimble and agile; I have watched him jump up a bank, jump over logs, come to a sliding stop, swerve around obstacles and pick his way through the trees. Alphonse was made to be a 3 day event horse. I believe with consistent work he would absolutely excel in the eventing world; especially cross country.
He would excel with a rider who is able to give consistent, clear aids and who has a very balanced seat. He would also benefit from daily consistent work. He is a sensitive soul that is very responsive to voice intonation. He does well in the cross ties for his rider, the vet and the farrier. He does best when the other horses are in the barn as well; he will get upset if the other horses are out to pasture and he is the only one left in the barn! Alphonse loves to be part of the herd and loves to have a buddy. He follows the pecking order related to size: he will pick on the smaller horses and donkeys! In conclusion, here is a beautiful horse with incredible athleticism as well as a kind soul!"

New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program
New Vocations is proud to be the oldest and largest racehorse adoption program in the country, serving more than 600 retired racehorses a year.
Since our inception in 1992, we've carried out our mission to rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome retired racehorses and placed more than 9,000 in adoptive homes. With nine facilities in Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania, we continue to work with racing owners and trainers in need of aftercare options and with our adopters to find perfect homes for these most-deserving equine athletes.
