May 14, 2020 – LEXINGTON, KY – New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program will offer two all-Thoroughbred charity horse shows in the Fall of 2020. The first will include hunter, jumper, pleasure, equitation and western classes held from Thursday, Sept. 3, through Sunday, Sept. 6. The second event will feature dressage, western dressage and combined test competition on October 3. Both events will be held in conjunction with The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program Championships (T.I.P.) at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

New for 2020, the September event will open with a $1,500 Welcome Stake on Thursday evening in the Rolex Stadium before competition in four additional rings gets underway on Friday. With classes catering to everything from the seasoned show horse to horses that have more-recently raced, both shows have something for every horse-and-rider team. As in years past, the Jumper Stake and the Hunter Derby will both go under the lights in the Rolex Stadium. Classes specifically for War Horses--Thoroughbreds that have had over 50 starts or that have won over $100,000--are also offered.

The October dressage show is now being run as a stand-alone competition as the response to the addition of the discipline in 2019 was overwhelming. Last year, the shows attracted over 450 Thoroughbreds from 23 states and Canada.

“We are very excited to once again have the ability to show the world just what this wonderful breed can accomplish,” said Sarah Coleman, New Vocations Public and Community Relations Director. “Kristin Werner [general counsel for The Jockey Club and who oversees the T.I.P. program] and I are looking forward to seeing familiar faces, welcoming new competitors and celebrating just what the ‘heart of a Thoroughbred’ means. Our September horse show will run concurrently with the Kentucky Derby. We can’t wait to see all the retired racehorses in the show rings, many of them back home in Kentucky, when the best of the best load in the gate in Louisville—there’s nothing more full-circle than that!”

Designed to highlight the versatility of the Thoroughbred breed, both shows will offer a Thoroughbred Recognition Parade, a stall decorating contest, a costume class and special Thoroughbred awards.
