Are you planning a visit to horse country this year? Come visit New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program and discover how we rehabilitate, retrain and rehome racehorses after they retire from the track, via Horse Country!

Founded in 1992, our program has grown from a one-woman show to the nation's premiere racehorse adoption organization with nine locations across the country. Tour our purpose-built facility, situated on over 150 acres of the historic Mereworth Farm, to learn how we find second careers for these outstanding equine athletes, many of which were born on nearby famous Kentucky farms.

Every day is a little different on our working farm, so experiences may include meeting and greeting retired racehorses in barns and pastures, watching transitional training sessions, and learning about the many different jobs in which these horses can excel. We'll also delve into our program's history and relationship with the iconic Mereworth Farm and the Susan S. Donaldson Foundation. Plus, attendees may meet our permanent resident, babysitter and mascot, Ranger, who is always on hand to help new horses settle in and take photos with friends!

For an extra in-depth look at the history of the retired racehorses in our barns, we recommend pulling up Equibase.com on your smartphone during our tour to search the horses’ registered names!

For those interested in adopting a horse from the program please visit newvocations.org/adopt to learn more about the adoption process. This tour is geared toward learning the history and mission of New Vocations rather than an adoption appointment with a trainer.
